Storing Company Records Offsite

One of the things that we have learned over the past couple of years while running our medical clinic is that you end up with a ton of paperwork. Each of our clients (or patients if you will) have their own folder of all their information. When we started out, it wasn’t a problem, but now, we have seen a large number of dormant folders filed in our office and we are running out of room.

As a company policy, we have decided that we need to hold onto all files for a period of at least ten years, just in case our patients may return. It may seem like a long time, but it is far easier to hold onto the file than spend the time re-entering the information for a new patient.

But, with the number of files that we have, we are quickly running out of and we have been looking at some business storage to meet our needs.

After doing some research, we found that only one Allen storage facility was going to meet our criteria, so we will be storing our dormant files there. Hopefully, we don’t have too many dormant customers returning and we won’t have to make too many trips to the storage facility, but it will be nice to free up some space in the office and avoid buying even more file cabinets.
