It's joked about often, but there's a degree of seriousness in the jokes: So many brides turn into bridezilla as their wedding approaches.
Take my sister, for example. Shortly after she got engaged, fully a year before her wedding, she decided to interrogate me on whether I could actually handle being her matron of honor. She was basically demanding perfection and a promise that I wouldn't do anything, not a single little thing, wrong. I know this because when I told her that I'd do my best, she told me that my best was not good enough.
At that point I declined to be in her wedding, thinking that if she is this bad now, how on earth will she be a year from now? She could have the perfect castle wedding in the perfect castle setting and still find something to complain about. In fact, I wish she were having her wedding in Michigan, so that I (being a Denver resident) could get out of going. I have a feeling that being just a guest instead of a member of the wedding party does not in any way protect me from bridezilla's wrath!
